    Education for Rookies

New to the options? You will understand how options work. Too often beginners are so anxious to get started that they pay no attention to details. I stress those details.

    Learn First. Trade Later.

Understanding the most basic concepts allows traders to steadily make progress – not by rote memorization, but with an understanding of trade ideas and how to manage risk.

I’m not here to turn you into an expert trader. I’m here to help you become a profitable trader. Let’s take one step at a time.

I cannot guarantee your success as a trader. No one can do that – no matter the price of tuition. However, I will see that you have the necessary tools. If trading is not for you (and it truly is not for everyone), we will discover that quickly.

    Education for Traders with Experience

If you have a solid background in options and options trading, you will be better served by seeking a different mentor (but expect to pay a high price for further education). My focus is on working with rookies and those with limited experience.

Just getting started? My well-received book (Rookies Guide to Options, now in its 2nd edition) and videos (offered free to Gold Members) provide just what you need (I have the testimonials) to learn how options work.

If you have been trading for a year or two and feel that something is missing – that so much of options remains a mystery, then I encourage you to profit from what we offer.

I concentrate on the so-called ‘income producing’ strategies – not because I think they are the best way to trade, but because they are easy to learn, and offer limited losses on every trade. I’ll teach you to manage risk. Without that skill, it’s very difficult to earn money on a consistent basis.

    Why we are different

    a) Live, open discussions – at least weekly. Bring your questions or request a topic for discussion. Can’t attend? View the video.

    b) Follow a trade. See how an experienced trader handles a specific situation. These trades are LEARNING situations. I am not going to hand you a list of recommended trades.

I’ll show you how I think about, and make trade decisions. I’ll explain why risk management is the single most important aspect of your trading career. [One of the higher priced mentors recently claimed that ‘trade selection’ was more important to a trader than risk management. That idea would be funny if it weren’t so harmful to his students.]

    c) Get a free preview. As a blogger, I’ve written 1,000 posts and answered a few thousand questions. Take a peek and see whether my ideas make good sense to you. As of July 1, 2011, that blog is no longer being published. However, the archives remain available.

Mark thank you for the live web cast I am a graduate of online trading academy. So I understand what an iron condor is however they do not teach a person how to adjust a position only to close a position if the predetermined stop loss price is met. I have ordered your book and am waiting for it to get here to start reading. Lakesidejim is a friend and suggested your site.So far I like what I am hearing and look forward to spending time learning.

        Jackie,

        Thank you (and to Jim),

I don’t how that academy works (I have heard of them), but each ‘school’ has a different curriculum.

My prices are very low, but I believe you will find the content well worthwhile. My emphasis is on the details. I move slowly, get repetitive for emphasis, and believe in the details. If you UNDERSTAND, then you can make good trade decisions. If you are hurried through and given rules to memorize, I don’t see how that can work. But, as I said, I don’t know how they operate.

My second emphasis point is RISK MANAGEMENT. This is THE key to success. Although it gets complicated and there is much to learn, risk management begins with deciding how much size to trade.

Welcome and I wish you good trading
